MORE NONSENSE FROM COMMISSIONERS.

Suffolk County Council pays a miserly £19.84 per hour.

This is a pro rata rate, so half an hour will merit £9.92, and 20 minutes £6.61.

And this rate applies to week-ends, evenings and even bank holidays.

So it was ludicrous to learn this week that mileage conducted on behalf of clients is also included in the hourly rate.

We have one client in Suffolk for whom we go shopping every week. We take the client in the support assistant’s car, and drive a few miles to the supermarket and back again.

How can it possibly be that extra mileage is included in the standard hourly rate.

For crying out loud, commissioners need to get commercial.
