COMPLIMENTS

Last week we spoke of the efforts made by staff to contribute to the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations. Photos of grateful clients adorn our Facebook page.

It reminded me of the lovely compliments that Bloomsbury regularly gets from clients and their relatives

Home care is not like a normal industry.

The relationships built between clients and their support staff are often extremely close. One of the more regular problems we face as managers is staff over-stepping their professional boundaries. Doing the laundry at home for a client in need is one such example.

Difficult to blame someone for that!

Home care is more than the fourth emergency service. It is much more important than that. Because it is a service represented by amazing individuals who build long term relationships with vulnerable people that enables them to stay living where they want to live – in the comfort and security of their own homes.

As I said, we receive lots of lovely compliments. Perhaps my favourite came on our annual survey last year, when a client who was a double amputee said:-

“𝗜𝗳 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼.”

What an ending!!
