So we at Bloomsbury have been using a newish app called Care Friends for a few weeks now.
The app works by encouraging existing staff to share adverts with their friends who might have an interest in joining the workforce.
These friends might share it with their friends, and so on. The beauty of compounding is that one advert might be shared thousands of times.
Each time the employee shares the ad, he or she earns points, which equate to money.
More money is earned if the person applies, comes for interview, accepts and offer, starts work and works for a significant time.
The principles behind it are sound. We need to encourage more people into the social care sector.
And staff know which of their friends have a “calling for care”. This is fundamental.
We are not looking only for people who need a job. We are looking for people who want to make a real difference to clients’ lives, who see the role more as a vocation, who have a passion for helping people.
We will continue to sell Care Friends.
