BIG CORPORATE HOME CARE

Are we seeing the start of a big company takeover of home care?

Certainly there has been significant corporate activity over the past few years.

The biggest takeover was of course Allied, by CRG.

But there have been a series of other large and small acquisitions.

What is the implication of this?

On the positive side, these large organisations should have sufficient funds for HR and training initiatives.

But it is often the case that companies can grow too large to ensure that there is a sustainable, distinctive culture which disseminates throughout the organisation.

In home care that matters perhaps more than in most industries. Providers must remain true to their instincts and strive to deliver person-centred, dignified care.

Sometimes that comes at the expense of profit.
